Glen Beache to resign from Tourism Authority

The Chief Executive Officer of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority (SVGTA), Glen Beache has announced his resignation after more than a decade at the helm of the organization.

The notice came on Thursday, August 3 in an interview with state media.

With just over a month before he demits office, Beache, who is a former Minister of Tourism, describes his resignation as a “sad time”.

“September 8, 2023 will be my last day as the CEO of the Tourism Authority. My team here has been good, it’s like a family, I love them dearly”, he said.

“It has been a great 13 years and I hope whoever takes over this position will understand what a wonderful team they have inherited. I am grateful for the opportunities that I had, I am grateful for the team that I have led over the years both from the ministry and especially the Tourism Authority, “ Beache said, noting that what they have accomplished as a team has been “exceptional”.

In outlining the reason for his resignation, Beache said, “ I think there comes a time when it is just basically time”, also adding, “I think maybe it’s time to move on”.

He recounted the accomplishments for the SVGTA which came under his leadership which include the implementation of standards for tourism and hospitality service providers as well as the management of the construction of the Argyle International Airport (AIA) through the International Airport Development Company. He also noted the relationship built between international airlines and the AIA which saw more traffic coming into the airport.

“When I looked from whence we came tourism wise, we have grown.”
