Penniston man pleads guilty to firearm and ammo charges, awaits sentencing
A 20 year old male who pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm and ammunition was remanded into custody when he appeared in court on Wednesday.
Shemar Adams of Penniston, appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court on June 28, before Magistrate John Ballah.
He admitted that on June 27, he had in his possession one home made firearm without a license issued under the Firearms Act. In addition, Adams also admitted to possession of one round of 12 gauge ammunition .
A home made shot gun and the ammunition were discovered at his home, after officers from the Rapid Response Unit (RRU) executed a search warrant at his residence.
Ballah remanded the defendant into custody and the matter was adjourned and transferred to the Serious Offences Court for sentencing.
The matter was expected to be heard yesterday. However, there was no sitting of that court; Adams therefore is still awaiting his fate.
