No suspects charged as yet in shooting death of Rillan Hill man

SEVERAL men were detained and questioned last week in relation to the Monday night June 19, killing of Rillan Hill resident Nigel “Urk” Louie.

But despite the speediness with which investigators detained suspects, no charges have yet been laid in relation to the brazen shooting that took place around 10.45 p.m. and left residents of that South Leeward community shaken.

The detained men who were eventually released are said to be from areas throughout the country including the Marriaqua Valley and Central Kingstown.

The shooting which left several people scampering for safety happened when two gun toting men, one masked, one wearing a bucket hat, emerged from a white Suzuki Swift, registration number RN309 and opened fire.

Louis, a challenged 39-year-old man is not believed to have been the target of the bandits.

Residents said last week they believed he was in the wrong place at the wrong time dressed in the wrong clothing and became a victim of mistaken identity.

Louie is the 23rd homicide in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) for 2023.
