My Imagination Mas Band launches this Saturday

Regular masqueraders of the My Imagination Mas Band, and those who are prospective players will have their first impression of the band’s production for Vincy Mas 2023, at the official launch this Saturday, April 8, at the Old Ju-c Building.

On show at the launch will be the eight sections that make up the presentation: “ Tell It Like It Is”.

The sections are Bacchanal, Sweet Music, Pan Against Crime, Education Revolution, Mas in the Hospital- Block O in the Cemetery, Mas Ah Know Yo, Time Will Tell and Sweet Love.

Held over from 2020, when Vincy Mas that year was cancelled because of the declaration of the coronavirus pandemic, the production, according to bandleader Denrick Woodley, reflects what is happening here in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

“ We are just presenting a mas that people can relate to, things that are happening… There is a mixture of some satire, social commentary and fun , all in keeping with the Vincentian life”, Woodley explained.

The band leader noted that they had started some work in 2020, therefore getting the band completely finished in time for the June/ July festival will not be so “ strenuous and demanding”.
However, Woodley is urging masqueraders to register early to avoid any last -minute hiccups.

“ We are expecting a band of about 300- 350 so get registered as we can be contacted via Facebook, Instagram and Twitter”, the bandleader concluded.
