Digical SVG Gospel Fest opens on Sunday

The 2023 edition of the Digicel SVG Gospel Fest will officially open this Sunday, April 2 at the Russell’s auditorium from 6.00 p.m. The festival which started in 2003 and is now into its 21st year, has become a major event on the national calendar, and showcases Vincentian gospel expressions a release from a member of the organising team states.

The evening’s programme will feature five local recording individual and group Gospel artistes who are: the Ekklesia Gospel Band from Sandy Bay; Andrez Bascombe; Gary Miller; 2022 New Song winner AlyssaAnn Laborde; and Minister Pearl McMaster.

Addresses will come from Chair of the Gospel Fest Committee, Leroy Browne; Cultural Officer, Maxine Browne; and Digicel. Minister of Culture Carlos James, will officially declare the festival open.

Following the opening this Sunday, the festival will continue with shows every weekend in April at the Russell’s auditorium. These will include: denominational concerts, dance praise, drama praise, a Youth night, symphonies of praise, sing a new song contest, SVG Bible festival and the National Gospel Showcase on Sunday, April 30. The showcase will feature international Gospel artistes Donna Cline of the Us Virgin Islands, and Neesha Woodz of Barbados.

The festival events are back to full audience participation following the easing of COVID-19 protocols.

Digicel SVG Gospel Fest 2023 is being held under the theme: “A Glorious Celebration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ”.
