ULP celebrates 22 years in Government with a rally this Sunday

This Sunday, March 26, the Unity Labour Party (ULP), will celebrate 22 years at the helm of administration in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) with a rally.

The event will be held on the northern end of the decommissioned E.T Joshua Airport tarmac in Arnos Vale.

The event will hear from leader of the ULP, and Prime Minister, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves and other members and well-wishers of the party.

The rally will be no different than any other ULP rallies in terms of entertainment, and will feature several local and overseas acts, among them Skinny Fabulous, Logiq, Nailah Blackman, Mighty Gabby and Fireman Hooper. It begins at 6:00 p.m. and the admission is free.

The ULP is described as a democratic socialist political party that was formed on October 16, 1994 when the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Labour Party and the Movement for National Unity merged.

The first elected was Vincent Beache (deceased). In the June 1998 General Elections, the party gained 55% of the popular vote and Beache resigned later that year, and on December 6, 1998, Dr Ralph Gonsalves was elected leader.

The ULP won General Elections for the first time on March 28, 2001 with 12 of the 15 seats and 57% of the popular vote and since then has held the reins of government.
