Little Tokyo to get $3.1 million upgrade

Just over $3 million has been provided for in the 2023 budget for the commencement of work to upgrade the Little Tokyo bus terminal in Kingstown later this year.

So said Minister of Finance, Camillo Gonsalves when he presented the Appropriations Bill in parliament last week Monday, January 9.

The minister said there is an allocation in the Budget of $3.1 million “to begin the rehabilitation of Little Tokyo and upgrade the public wash rooms across the street from the bus terminal.”

In anticipation of the upgrade, this year, government will relocate and compensate vendors, to make way for the demolition of dilapidated structures at the bustling facility.

Designs are now being completed to improve the flow of traffic, expand vending facilities, and enhance commuter safety and comfort.

The minister expressed gratitude to the ALBA Bank and the government of Venezuela for their support in the upgrade of Little Tokyo.
