Gonsalves urges school leavers to learn a skill

Prime Minister, Dr Ralph Gonsalves is encouraging graduates of secondary schools, and other young persons to enrol for skills training at the Georgetown Technical Institute.

Gonsalves made the call as he spoke on NBC radio’s Face to Face programme on Wednesday, December 21.

“A lot of very good courses are being delivered there,” he noted.

The technical institute offers both long and short term courses to students to better equip them for the world of work.

“I am encouraging young people, who want to get specific kinds of skills for the building trade, information technology… to go and get training there.”

The Prime Minister, who is also the Member of Parliament for the North Central Windward Constituency said that the government spends close to $1 million annually on the Georgetown Technical Institute.
