Pringa’s eyes possibilities for UK export

A local processing enterprise that specialises in condiments using natural inputs is getting ready to enter the international market after their participation at a food fair in the United Kingdom.

Pringa’s delicious guava jelly

Pringa’s natural flavour, a brand known for their seasoning, hot sauce, creole sauce, ginger sauce and guava jelly, was selected by the Caribbean Export Development Agency under the brand ‘Absolute Caribbean’ to showcase their products at the September 5-6 Speciality and Fine Foods Fair 2022, Olympia, London.

“During the time spent, Pringa’s Natural Flavour met with chefs, restaurant owners, public consumers and distributors…,” La Fleur Little, who attended the fair told SEARCHLIGHT. The family business which is based at Redemption Sharpe is owned and run by Little’s mom Sharon, La Fleur and another sister.

La Fleur said they are currently “discussing means and ways of exporting products to the UK…” and also “gathering information and making the necessary adjustments to meet the standard as it relates to packaging and paper work to penetrate the UK market.”

La Fleur described the experience at the fair as “amazing”, and the reception of their products as “exceptional”.

She said in a written response to SEARCHLIGHT that visitors really enjoyed what was on display and “most persons went for seconds”.

“Our ginger sauce was quite new to a lot of persons but the sharp, and spicy ginger flavour without the burn, held the attention of persons at the booth,” she said.

“The blend of herbs and spices in the green seasoning/marinade was also well received,” and persons “were telling us what use they would put it to rather than us [telling] them what it would be used for.”

La Fleur was grateful to the Caribbean Development Export Agency for the invitation to exhibit under its brand, saying,”we really appreciate it.” She is hoping that their exposure and any successes arising from the fair will pave the way for other food local processors to gain a foothold in markets outside of St Vincent and the Grenadines.
