Senator Peters to be sworn in as Foreign Affairs Minister today

The first female Minister of Foreign Affairs in St Vincent and the Grenadines will be sworn into office today, Friday August, 26.

The announcement was made by prime minister, Dr Ralph Gonsalves on NBC radio on Wednesday, August 24.

Earlier this month, the prime minister announced the appointment of Senator Keisal Peters as Minister of Foreign Affairs of St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).

The senator, a former practising attorney, had previously served as Minister of State in the said ministry in the office of the Prime Minister.

Dr Gonsalves said senator Peters was in the Bahamas at the time he made the announcement of her appointment.

He pointed out that Peters will be not only the first female but also the youngest person to be appointed as Minister of Foreign Affairs of SVG.

The ULP senator has already expressed her interest in contesting the West Kingstown seat in the next general elections due in 2025.
