Family vacation turned into a mission trip for Mc Barnett family
WHAT WAS initially planned as a one week family vacation to their homeland St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), turned out to be a mission trip for Pastor Robert Mc Barnett, his wife Sharon, and their daughter Ria.
Pastor Mc Barnett, who heads the USbased St Matthias Charities Incorporated, was on hand to personally hand over donations in Georgetown on Tuesday, June 7.
The pastor, who is originally from Dickson handed over three desktop computers and a quantity of toners to the Dickson Methodist School, which were received by Grade 6 pupil, Kyjon Williams and principal, Natalia Quashie-Williams.
The presentation was also witnessed by Kathy Quashie, a teacher, and other students from Grade 6 at the school. This was not the first donation to the school from the charitable organisation; it previously received two computers from the St Matthias Charities Inc, and pastor Mc Barnett has promised to continue working with the Dickson Methodist School. “We will do everything that we can to make sure that we assist you with school supplies,” the pastor said, adding that more computers will be donated to the school until all the students have full access.
The school received its donations at a ceremony that took place at the lecture room of the Modern Medical and Diagnostic Centre in Georgetown where donations were also made to the medical facilities in the community.
The principal, teacher and students were all excited about the additional computers for their school and expressed their gratitude to pastor Mc Barnett and St Matthias Charities Inc.
