Nurses Association awards current and retired nurses

More than 50 active and retired nurses received awards for their hard work and contribution to the Nursing Fraternity at a special function held last weekend.

The award and recognition ceremony which formed part of the celebrations for International Nurses Week 2022, was organised by the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Nurses&#39 Association on Friday, May 27 at the Peace Memorial Hall, a release from the Agency for Public Information states.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment, Curtbert Knights said the ceremony was a symbol of appreciation for all the hard work they have done, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Knights went on to praise the nurses for the love and selflessness they showed to their patients and encouraged them to continue to do their best.

Chief Nursing Officer, Sr. Peggy Da Silva who also delivered remarks at the Association’s first such event called the nurses unsung heroes describing them as the best of the best.

Sister Da Silva reminded them that nursing is a calling and a lifestyle that can only change one for better. She also congratulated the Association for a successful event and reminded the awardees that the ceremony was only a small token of appreciation for those who stood out throughout the years, including during the fight against the invisible enemy, COVID 19.
