Mission Accomplished Volunteer Organisation looking to extend its reach
Roseann Reece is the president and founder of a non- governmental organisation which currently operates in Trinidad and Tobago But, the Trinidad born woman with Vincentian roots, is hoping to spread her wings to the wider Caribbean, including St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).
While Reece was born in Trinidad, her parents, James Williams and Myrtle Parsons -Williams were Vincentians who had migrated to Trinidad and Tobago. Her father was from the Kingstown area, while her mother was originally from Mesopotamia.
Reece heads the Mission Accomplished Volunteer Organisation (MAVO) which she founded in 2004.
In a telephone interview with SEARCHLIGHT on Monday, March 21, Reece said the organisation was legally incorporated in 2015.
“We are a social, educational, skills training and even referral organisation,” Reece explained.
She started with preparing meals for the homeless, but now she has expanded and does skills training, and also provides back to school supplies and hampers for the needy.
At present, her clients are mainly in Trinidad, but Reece disclosed they are also helping a family in Grenada by sending them groceries.
“We don’t help persons based on demographics, we do not care where you live” she noted.
Reece admitted that her organisation has never had the opportunity to help anyone in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
However, she hasn’t ruled it out as long as funding is available; she also hopes to reach the wider Caribbean with her helping hands.
Apart from assistance from sponsors, Reece said the organisation engages in many fund raising drives to keep its programmes running.
“This is a God given calling,” the woman with Vincentians roots reflected.
Also, she said the organisation is assisting some of the many Venezuelan migrants who are now living in Trinidad.
The Mission Accomplished Volunteer Organisation is based in Diego Martin, Trinidad. Reece can be contacted at telephone number 1868 326 5853.
Reece said although her parents were from St Vincent and the Grenadines, she is yet to visit her second home.
She is hopeful, though that she will be able to meet some of her relatives here.
