Historian to launch new book on Paramount Chief Chatoyer

Dr Adrian Fraser, in collaboration with the University of the West Indies Open Campus, St Vincent and the Grenadines, is pleased to announce the launching of his latest book entitled, “From Villain to National Hero:Chatoyer and the Early Struggle for Independence of St. Vincent (Yurumein)”.

The launch takes place on Thursday, September 19 at 6:00 pm at Frenches House. The book traces the transformation of Chatoyer from villain as seen through colonial texts to his status as our first national hero and makes the point that the early struggle for Independence began with Chatoyer. It therefore broadens the concept and meaning of National Independence and is dedicated to the 40th anniversary of our Independence.
