Designer To Host one-month Fashion Course

Designer Kimya Glasgow will be hosting a four-week Fashion programme for aspiring Fashion designers, starting on Monday, February 4.

After the success of her 2018 summer Fashion programme that saw nine persons complete a five-week course in Pattern Making & Garment Construction, with an introduction to Manual Pattern Grading, History of Fashion, Textiles and Costing & Pricing for Fashion, Glasgow hopes to continue to train persons interested in increasing skill and knowledge in the fashion industry.

Glasgow stated that, “based on requests and feedback from last year’s course, I decided to host the course again as there is a demand and need for it.”

Kimya Glasgow Inc continues in its goal to educate Vincentians in the Fashion Design field to international standards, as part of the development of the local industry, in order for Vincentian stakeholders to be competitive and open up educational opportunities locally in the Creative and Garment Sector. The aim is to utilize the fashion industry to empower SVG’s women and youth.

The course includes 36 hours of direct contact time and is taught in a hands-on way, offering access to reference material and online books, to enable participants to be more self-sufficient after the course.

According to Glasgow, this course will focus more heavily on Pattern Making and Garment construction.

“Whether persons have experience or not, we start with core principles and work up to more advanced techniques. This course will be more focused to be able to fit adequately into the four-week period. The global fashion industry is changing and growing in amazing ways and SVG needs to be a part of it”.
