Marriaqua Gov’t School Kindergarden class gets upgrade

The kindergarten area of the Marriaqua Government School received a much-needed upgrade last weekend thanks to the Coreas Hazells Activities Club.

On Saturday, members of the club journeyed to the school at Mesopotamia where the inside, outside and floor of the kindergarten class were painted. A cartoon character was also pained on one of the walls as a welcome to the children.

Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the school’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Kemron Lucas said the institution needs some work so they appreciate the help from Coreas.

“We are hoping that other businesses can come on board and follow them. We have been complaining for a while and haven’t got a response so it is wonderful that they can contribute to the kids who might be customers or even workers in the future,” said Lucas.

He said it is nice when companies give back to the community and the youths.

Vice President of the activities club Melissa Veira-DaSilva said the painting of the classroom is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility.

She said the Ministry of Education was contacted and three schools were suggested for help — the Lowmans Hill Primary School and the CW Prescod Primary School being the other two.

Veira-DaSilva said the CW Prescod will be tackled tomorrow, Saturday, August 25 and the Lowmans Hill Primary on September 1.

“We want to give back and we know that the children are the future,” said Veira-DaSilva.
