Petersville Primary School headmistress honoured
A group known as ‘The Calypso Grudges’ has recognized Roslyn Peters, the headmistress of the Petersville Primary School for her contribution to education in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).
The group, headed by Jeffery ‘Snuffy’ Martin and Randolph ‘Pinchum’ George, handed over a plaque to Peters last Friday at the school’s compound at Kingstown Park during the institution’s 2018 graduation ceremony.
On receiving the plaque, Peters said that she did not believe in people honouring her, but she accepted the recognition out of respect for those thanking her.
She recalled a play that she was in when she was eight years old and the words she had to say, “This is not more than I can do, I have only done what I ought to do and nothing makes me happier than to see others happier.”
Martin said that the group, which comprises avid supporters of the calypso artform, decided to recognize Peters for her years of providing what they consider a quality education to persons.
Martin said that Peters impacted the lives of members of the group and their children, so they thought it fit to thank her.
The other members of the group are Vanessa Douglas, Rosita Jack, Phyllis Edwards, Angus Evans, Raulty Lowe, Jennifer Daniel, Henry Jack, Akisha Johnson, Cynthia Bentick, Joylyn Charles and Trotman Richards.
