Miss Lotto Crowned Miss SVG 2018
Miss Lotto Shellisa Nanton is the 2018 queen of carnival in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).
Nanton was crowned just after 12 am on Sunday by Miss SVG 2017 Jimelle Roberts. “I feel great,” Nanton told reporters after winning the Miss SVG pageant which was held at Carnival City, Victoria Park.
A resident of Georgetown, Nanton was born in the community of Overland.
Apart from taking the coveted crown and the university scholarship that goes with it, Nanton also won the evening wear and interview categories of the competition. She also took the Miss Photogenic award.
In second place was Miss Mustique Co. Ltd. Criscione Morgan while Miss Vincentian Chocolate Cameisha Foster was third. Foster also won Best Talent.
Winning in the Swimwear category was Miss Metrocint General Insurance Company Limited Nazira Graham.
The Miss Congeniality award went to Miss Massy Stores SVG Limited Morrissia Williams.
This year, seven young women vied for a full university scholarship and a chance to wear the crown and be called Miss SVG. The other competitors were Miss FLOW Solange Fernandez and Miss GECCU Azanie Lavia.
The show saw performances from the boy band ‘Resonance,’ reigning Ragga Soca king Hance John and singer Sarah Mark. Alex ‘Kubiyashi’ Barnwell and Miss SVG 2015 DeYonte Mayers were the masters of ceremony.
