UWI Open Campus renovations to offer new facilities

The University of the West Indies(UWI) Open Campus in St Vincent and the Grenadines(SVG) will see new facilities being offered to their students when renovations finish in March 2019.

Deborah Dalrymple, head of site at the UWI Open Campus, located at Murray Road, Kingstown, divulged the news at the ceremony for the Recognition of Graduates last Friday, February 23.

“As you are all aware, the St Vincent site is undergoing major renovations. This would improve vastly, its delivery,” she stated. “The new building will provide for expanded classrooms, library, computer laboratory, video conferencing, student friendly areas and office space.”

She noted that the renovations are slated to be completed by March of next year. This is the year that the UWI Open Campus will be celebrating its 11th anniversary.

Excitement already spreading for the completion of the new facilities, former member of the student guild and valedictorian, Hannah Hamilton (B.Ed in Educational Leadership and Management (Hons)) also mentioned it in her address.

She declared, “It is my hope that upon completion of the new open campus site, that I am definitely looking forward to, more students will be encouraged to use the Open Campus facilities on a more regular basis. After all, that is about the only place that some of us can sometimes be guaranteed peace and quiet.”(KR)
