CIBC FirstCaribbean keeps promise to Project Pink
CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank made good on its word, with the handing over of a cheque to members of the Project Pink Committee.
Last Saturday, October 29, Walk for the Cure Committee chair Jacintha Hinds handed over a cheque valued $30,000 to Project Pink president Karen Defreitas and her team, during the groupâs gala that took place the residence of the Prime Minister at Old Montrose.{{more}}
The donation was accumulated from a number of fund-raising events, the main one being the bankâs annual charity walk that took place on October 15, and saw over 300 persons trekking from the bankâs compound on Halifax Street in Kingstown, to the Arnos Vale Roundabout and back to the bank.
Saturdayâs event saw supporters of the organization gather to pay tribute to the contributors, as well as survivors of cancer, particularly breast cancer, in an event that was emotional for many of those present.
Project Pink will this year focus the donations received towards assisting one person affected by breast cancer; the organization hopes to raise at least $500,000.
