SwiftPac donates school supplies to students in need

Five primary school students started the school year yesterday equipped with the necessary school supplies, compliments SwiftPac.

During a brief ceremony at SwiftPac’s main office last Friday, Destiny Sutherland of the Owia Government School, Jared Jackson of the New Grounds Government School, Anthony Williams of the Sion Hill Government School, Kaynecia Garraway of the Clare Valley Government School{{more}} and Sue-Nique Edwards of the Rose Bank Government School all received backpacks containing notebooks, folders, pencils, rulers and other school supplies.

SwiftPac’s manager Brenda Telemaque told recipients in the presence of their parents that the company is always happy and honoured to give back to the community.

She disclosed that the names of the students were selected randomly after being submitted by their customers and with the assistance of the Social Welfare Department.

According to Telemaque, this is the second year the company has made such a gesture. She recalled that last year SwiftPac awarded one student an EC$500 scholarship.

Swiftpac, a freight and courier service that provides service at the local, regional and international levels, has traditionally provided scholarships and/or school supplies to underprivileged children.

The initiative was first introduced last year and is currently implemented in St Kitts/Nevis, Grenada, St Lucia, Dominica and Barbados.(AS)
