Heartist Association gives Pediatric Ward artistic upliftment
A group of Vincentian artists last Thursday donated pieces of art to the Pediatric Ward of the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH).
Shanique Stewart, the manager and project coordinator of the group, known as the Heartist Association, said the initiative was introduced after the association acknowledged that the hospital needed some upliftment.{{more}} According to Stewart, the hospital is the only safe haven for abused children and so the association hopes that the art pieces would make it a more pleasant environment for them.
Stewart handed over three pieces and indicated that the artists also intend to have murals painted at the hospital. The 23-year-old also noted that the donation is just the beginning of what the artists would like to do at the Pediatric Ward.
Representative of the Ministry of Health Neeka Isaacs, who accepted the donation on behalf of the Ministry, thanked the association for finding a creative way to reach out to the children at the Pediatric Ward. Isaacs said art and music are essential in uplifting and uniting people and encouraged the artists to keep pressing forward.(AS)
