Digicel staff head back to school

Persons who visited Digicel’s corporate office in Kingstown on Friday, August 26, were both confused and amused at the same time, with some asking out loud if they were in the right place. This, as Digicel employees all donned either their favourite school uniform or that of their alma mater.{{more}}

‘Back to school’ at Digicel climaxed the telecommunications company’s Bring the Beat summer campaign and also served as a reminder to Vincentians that summer is over and it is almost time to head back to the classrooms to start a new school year.

Many customers commended Digicel for conceptualizing such a fun and creative idea that all of St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) can relate to. Some customers also observed that they would like to see more corporate entities around Kingstown undertaking similar exercises, which, they say, will help to lighten a

usually hectic day and also help to put a smile on customers’ faces.

Secretary of Digicel’s Social Club Melecia Abbott said she is more than pleased with how the day turned out and commended her co-workers for not only participating, but going the extra mile to ensure that they were all decked out in full school attire from head to toe.

Break was served, as the bell rang at 10:30 a.m. sharp; and sponsors like Coreas Distribution, CK Greaves, Cato’s Chicken Truck and the Lewis Pharmacy all chipped in to ensure that the break was a nourishing one.

Abbott added, “Digicel has always been an innovator and community activist and everyone had an EXTRAORDINARY day; both employees and customers.”

Moreover, Abbott said the Digicel staff Back to School Initiative also featured a humanitarian aspect and will see all the uniforms purchased being donated to charity and persons in need within the various communities.
