University bursary awarded in memory of Jennie Jacobs

Cherise King is the first recipient of a university bursary from the Norma Keizer Scholarship Foundation (NKSF).

On Monday, Cherise, a resident of Sharpesdale, received a cheque in the amount of XCD$5,000.00 from Chairman of the Foundation Dr Adrian Fraser to assist with expenses associated with attending the University of the West Indies (UWI) St Augustine campus to read for a degree in International Relations,{{more}} beginning September, 2016.

The bursary is granted in memory of the late Jennie Jacobs, a former teacher at the St Vincent Girls’ High School (GHS) who, like Norma Keizer, was committed to the education of the children of the nation and was a friend, teacher, colleague and mentor of Keizer’s.

Additional bursaries of XCD$5000.00 each will be granted to Cherise at the beginning of the 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 school years once she maintains satisfactory progress and funds permit. Cherise is a former student of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College and the GHS.

Earlier this month, the NKSF awarded three secondary school scholarships each valued at XCD$1,400 annually and three bursaries of $425 each to students who were successful in the 2016 Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment.
