In her remarks, Boyea, who placed 19th for girls and 48th overall in the 2016 Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA), promised to stay focused and to make the station proud during her tenure at the Girls High School.
Speaking at the brief ceremony, NBCâs chairman Elson Crick noted that he felt a sense of pride and honour to know that as a station, the NBC remembers the work of Claude Theobalds. He also told Boyea that it is important to remember the NBC and the person who the scholarship honours. He offered best wishes in her academic career and also noted that he hopes that Eric Febuary, the student who attained 20 subjects including 17 ones in the 2016 Caribbean ExaminaÂtion Council (CXC) exams, would serve as an inspiration to Boyea.
While handing over the scholarship cheque, Anthony Theobalds, son of Claude Theobalds said it was a pleasure for him to hand over the scholarship because it afforded him an opportunity to remember his father. He said his father was a lover of education and would be proud the scholarship is being awarded in his name.
The first scholarship was first awarded in 2012, a few weeks after Claude Theobalds passed away. He was a former general manager of the station and worked there from 1972 to 1982. (AS)
