SJCK records 91.76 per cent pass rate in CSEC
The St Josephâs Convent Kingstown (SJCK) recorded an overall pass rate of 91.76 per cent this year.
Of the 61 students who sat the exam, three students passed 11 subjects, six students passed 10 subjects, and 13, nine subjects. Seventy two per cent of the students passed five or more subjects with Mathematics and English.{{more}}
There were 100 per cent passes in 16 subject areas – Chemistry, Clothing & Textiles, Economics, Electronic Document Preparation Management, Food and Nutrition, Home Economics Management, Information Technology, Integrated Science, Physical Education, Physics, Principles of Accounts, Principles of Business, Religious Education, Music, Spanish and Theatre Arts.
Three subjects recorded passes in the nineties – English A 96.7 per cent, Office Administration 91.6 per cent, and Social Studies 97.8 per cent. Mathematics recorded 73.7 per cent passes.
The schoolâs top students were Allia Richards who passed nine subjects – five grade ones and four grade twos; Brianna Glasgow, who passed 10 subjects – five grade ones, three grade twos and two grade threes; Alizee George, who passed eleven subjects – three grade ones and eight grade twos; Mya Duncan, who returned 10 subjects with four grade ones, four grade twos and three grade threes.
A release from the school said there was an improvement in the percentage passes in 11 subject areas when compared to last yearâs performance. This was especially so in Physics which improved by 42.9 per cent and Chemistry which increased by 60 per cent.
According to the release, Theatre Arts was offered for the first time and students gained 100 per cent passes.
Principal of the school Calma Balcombe commened teachers for their dedication, the parents for their support and the students for achieving very good results.
