Landlord wants tenants to vacate his property
Former national footballer Ivan âKempestâ Dupont is publicly calling on two women who occupy the downstairs apartment of his Lodge Village home to vacate the premises, something he has asked them to do since last month.
Dupont told SEARCHLIGHT yesterday that he is making the issue public, as last Saturday the women accused him of stealing EC$400 from their apartment, something he vehemently denies.{{more}}
According to Dupont, sometime in January he rented his downstairs apartment to Neville Thomas and Irika âPreciousâ Farrell. He said that Farrell had two women living with her, whom he only knows by the names âToyaâ and âJasmineâ and that Thomas never lived in the space.
The angry man said that as time went by, a male began visiting the premises and causing problems and he gave Farrell notice to leave, as he could not handle the fact that this man was visiting one of the women (not Farrell) and constantly creating violent and noisy situations on his property.
âI gave Farrell notice to leave and she did leave. She was not the one causing the problems, but she was the one I had the contract with and she left, but the two other girls stayed behind,â explained Dupont, who noted that the two women were supposed to leave the property since July 12.
The angry landlord said that the situation reached a high point last Saturday August 6, when he boarded up a door, two windows, removed an outside sink and disconnected the light and water from the downstairs apartment.
Dupont said that when the tenants returned, they accused him of removing EC$400 from their belongings, something that he would never do.
âI told them I didnât want any money for July; Miss Farrell move out and these two still remain. They begged for time; now theyâre abusing me.
âThey always want to fight and one of them pelt a big stone on my house last Saturday and take up a piece of wood and want to hit me.â
He said that he has sought the advice of a lawyer and is currently in the process of getting the two women removed from the property legally.
âI just want people to know that I didnât remove anything from them. I just want them gone from my place. They are very cantankerous,â stressed Dupont, who added that renting his property and support from his son are the only ways he earns money.
When SEARCHLIGHT visited Dupontâs property yesterday, one of the occupants of the downstairs apartment was extremely loud and vocal.
âHe could bring anybody he want, I donât careâ, said the irate woman.(LC)
