PM Gonsalves turns 70

The nation bid a happy 70th birthday to Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves yesterday, with several persons greeting him with calls to radio stations and making posts on social media.

The only nod the indefatigable Gonsalves himself gave to the day was that he spent it working from his official residence at Old Montrose, instead of going into the Prime Minister’s Office on Bay Street.{{more}}

A private party was thrown for the head of government two Sundays ago, on Sunday, July 31, by his wife Eloise, at the couple’s private country home at Gorse, which is in the North Central Windward constituency Gonsalves represents.

At the event, which was attended by over 400 people, tributes were paid to Gonsalves by several people, including his mother-in-law Ursula Harris, his cousin senator Julian Francis, his sons Camillo and Storm Gonsalves, close friend Sir Richard “Johnny” Cheltenham QC of Barbados and deputy political leader of the Unity Labour Party (ULP) Sir Louis Straker.

The Prime Minister, who led his ULP to a fourth successive victory at the polls on December 9, 2015, is this year celebrating his 48th year as a political activist.

Happy Birthday, PM, from the management and staff at Searchlight!
