Owen Ralph exhibits artwork at Sion Hill intersection

Noted designer and Carnival band leader Owen Ralph last Sunday and Monday added a different flavour to the Sion Hill intersection, with a display of his many years of artwork.

Paintings depicting various topics — religious, historic, abstract, sceneries and the like, were all for the eyes to see through the impressions of Ralph’s brushes and choice of colours.{{more}}

Ralph disclosed that he has over 200 selections which have accumulated over the years, but never made any real and concerted effort to have his work on display in such a setting.

“I have been doing this for donkey years since I left school,” Ralph explained.

He said he was encouraged by David “Darkie” Williams and Nzimbu Browne to stage such an exhibition, as many of his items were just lying at his home as virgin work.

Ralph said that he is not adept at pricing of his paintings, hence rarely ventures to put his work up for sale.

He revealed that in the past some persons had “ripped [him] off”, because of his ignorance about putting a dollar value to his work of art.

With this outlet even small as it has been, Ralph is hopeful that he can get a breakthrough and persons would not only be complimentary of his paintings, but follow through by making purchases.

Ralph’s paintings may be viewed at his art gallery, located a few metres from the Sion Hill intersection, on the road to Kingstown Hill.(RT)
