Wetty Beatz wins 2016 Breakout Artiste
Phillip âWetty Beatzâ Bastien is the Carnival Development Corporationâs (CDC) Breakout Artiste for 2016.
The CDC announced Bastien as the winner of the competition on Thursday, July 28.
This new soca category was introduced to offer an opportunity, with incentive, to new and upcoming artistes. The CDC hopes that the competition will help artistes to raise their standard both lyrically and melodiously.{{more}}
In winning, Bastien raised 1876 online votes. The other artistes that were in the running were Chewalee, Naphtali, Mason and Primetime.
Artistes with releases from 2013 to 2015 who entered the Ragga and Soca Monarch competitions, but never placed, were also eligible.
Bastien is known for songs like âUndey Deyâ, âThing Startâ and âMessageâ and was a competitor in both the 2016 Ragga Soca Monarch and Soca Monarch competitions.
