JCI celebrating 57 years of connecting communities

Sunday, July 10 marked the opening of a week of activities commemorating 57 years of Junior Chamber International (JCI), formerly known as Jaycees in St Vincent and the Grenadines, under the theme “Celebrating 57 Years of Connecting Communities through Leadership and Development.”

The week was opened with a service at the Arnos Vale Methodist Church. During the course of the week, JCI West Indies’ national vice-president (with responsibility for St Vincent and the Grenadines and Guyana) Kwesi Des Vignes of Tobago was on island making his official visit.{{more}} His visit entailed a courtesy call on the Minister of National Mobilization, Social Development, the Family, Persons with Disabilities and Youth; a television interview at SVGTV with JCI St Vincent representatives; participating in a donation to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital; conducting official JCI training in the areas of Project Planning and Effective Communications and the induction of a new member.

Other training sessions held by the organization included: the JCI Creed and Respect and Customer Service.

The week of activities culminated with a cocktail on July 16, the day which marked the organization’s anniversary. As part of that event, president Shevern Lewis-John endorsed the JCI “Peace is Possible” campaign and encouraged attendees to become and stay committed to the purpose of creating peace in their communities, country and the globe.

The organization wishes to thank its members, colleagues, stakeholders and partners for being a part of the celebratory activities and extends gratitude for the support received over the years, as it continues to create impact in the community.

The Junior Chamber International (JCI) is a global non-profit, non-governmental organization, with the main objective of developing and empowering young people and contributing to community growth through active involvement.
