Computer up for grabs in Mavcom post-CPEA essay competition
Mavcom SVG, one of the leading ICT businesses in St Vincent and the GrenaÂdines announces its post-CPEA essay competition. The competition is open to students who were successful in the 2016 examination. The winner will be awarded a desktop system with a printer, anti-virus and child protection software for themselves and an identical package for their primary school.{{more}}
In explaining the inspiration for the competition, Paul Morris, Mavcomâs managing director, stated that Mavcom believes that innovation is fundamental to progress and to life. âInformation and Communication Technology is a critical driver of innovation, and the youth are a very imaginative and creative demographic. They should be provided with the tools necessary to encourage, support and sharpen their curiosity, research and innovation at an early stage,â said Morris, adding that ICT and other knowledge-based industries are vital to economic development in small island states such as St Vincent and the Grenadines. He sees this competition as his companyâs show of commitment to this islandâs development.
Competition Rules:
The competition is open to students who passed the 2016 CPEA with an average passing grade of 65 per cent. (Proof of results must be provided).
Students must submit an essay of not less than 500 words, indicating: How They Will Use the Technology to Further Their Development, and why they are deserving of the prize.
The essay must be the studentâs original work.
Short-listed entries will be sent to the relevant primary school for endorsement.
Short-listed students will be interviewed.
Entries must be clearly marked âMavcom Essay Competitionâ and be submitted via email to info@mavcomsvg.com or delivered to the office in the Adams Brothersâ Building in Arnos Vale. The closing date for entries is Friday, August 26th, 2016.
