The St Vincent and the Grenadines Teachers Union (SVGTU) has upgraded its secondary school scholarships from five to seven years.

On Monday, Runel Primus and Jaymarie Lucas were awarded the CW Prescod scholarships in the sum of EC$1,000 at the Peace Memorial Hall, during the launch of union’s summer institute workshop.{{more}}

“At the end of the secondary school, we would be extending the scholarship into Community College, beginning this year,” first vice-president of the SVGTU Vibert Lampkin announced at the launch.

He said that the union took the decision to upgrade the scholarship because it is concerned about its members and their children.

Primus and Lucas are two of three students who received 2016 scholarships. The third students would be awarded at the end of the workshop on June 22.(AS)
