SVG’s first educational game show series launched

Lovers of popular games shows, such as Family Feud, Celebrity Squares and Jeopardy, can look forward to “Brainstorm’, the first educational game show series to be hosted in St Vincent and the Grenadines, which will feature variations of these games.

At the launch of the game show series on Monday at the Peace Memorial Hall,{{more}} Kimsha Williams said that the idea was conceptualized a year ago by her students at Learning for Living.

Learning for Living was started in 2014 by Williams and offers tutorship to students.

“I talked to the students and they had all these ideas. The students named the shows, they provided their concepts and gave feedback and it’s their show,” she said.

“We want this to be an exciting evaluation of the students. We want to provide students with the opportunity to study while they are on a break in a fun way.”

Ashelle Morgan, who gave the feature address, commended Williams for her initiative and encouraged the students to strike a balance between their academics and play.

“Life is about balance. If you work hard, you must allow ample time for play, relaxation and rejuvenation,” said the young lawyer.

The audience at the launch was treated to a preview of “Classroom Jeopardy,” which was hosted by Yolande Robertson-Green.

The participants were three students of Learning for Living, who engaged in a few short rounds of the game.

They each chose one of the categories, which included ‘The Queen’s English’, ‘The Science of Life’ and ‘Physics Everywhere”, and answered questions relevant to the categories for points, much to the audience’s delight.

The preview was accompanied by a theme song, lights and a screen which displayed the points earned by the participants.

The series will take place every Monday, except on August Monday, at the Peace Memorial Hall from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. from July 18 to August 22.

Each week will feature a different game show, such as “High School Feud”, “Vincy Celebrity Squares” and “Who wants to be an Extraordinaire”.(CA)
