NKSF to hold gala dinner, Chinese auction on July 9
A gala dinner and Chinese auction is being held by the Norma Keizer Scholarship Foundation Inc (NKSF) on Saturday, July 9 to raise funds to assist students in financial need.
The NKSF, whose tag line is âYou aspire, we inspire,â was established in July 2015 to provide secondary school scholarships to needy students, and so far, has awarded two students with full seven-year scholarships and four others with one-off bursaries.{{more}}
According to the Foundationâs secretary Clare Keizer, it is hoped that this year, more scholarships than last year can be given, hence the need to raise funds to sustain the Foundation.
The event, which will be held under the auspices of Governor General Sir Frederick Ballantyne, will be held at the Cruise Ship and Ferry Terminal and promises to be enjoyable, with patrons being provided with a sumptuous three-course meal, while being entertained by a live band. A Chinese auction will give participants the opportunity to win fantastic prizes, including a weekend for two at a resort in the Grenadines and an electronic tablet. There will also be door prizes for which all patrons will be eligible.
âBring a little extra money so that you can participate in the auction and have a chance to win a prize,â encouraged Keizer.
Patrons are being asked to pay EC$150 per ticket for the event, but according to Keizer, âdonât regard it as paying $150 for a meal, but look at it as your contribution towards the future of needy children in St Vincent and the Grenadines, who need help to make the most of their exposure to secondary education.â
The dress code is elegant and the inaugural affair will also provide persons with lasting memories, as a photo booth, manned by a professional photographer, will be set up.
Tickets for the event are available at the SEARCHLIGHT Newspaper at Lower Kingstown Park, while persons may also purchase tickets from the Foundationâs board members Dr Adrian Fraser (chair), Clare Keizer (company secretary) Jeannette France, Duane Daniel, Jude Knight and Corletha Ollivierre.
The Foundation, a separate legal and financial entity from the SEARCHLIGHT Newspaper, was established to honour the legacy of nation builder Norma Keizer, who was the founding editor of SEARCHLIGHT and a former headmistress of the Girlsâ High School.
âWe are very grateful for the support we have already received from so many individuals and companies and we want to encourage others to do likewise,â Keizer said.
The dinner and Chinese auction is sponsored by Fanfare Events, SEARCHLIGHT, Plantation House Hotel, Courts (St Vincent) Ltd, Coreas Hazells Inc, Vectadesigns and many other corporate sponsors.
