FLOW Soca Monarch competition takes place today

Today, Friday, July 1, FLOW will host at their promenade on Halifax Street their annual Soca Monarch competition.

The competition will give artistes who did not make it to national Soca Monarch competition the opportunity to showcase their talent.

Senior Marketing and Corporate Communications lead at FLOW Nikala Williams said that today’s event is part of FLOW’s push to highlight local talent. {{more}}This push began a few weeks ago with the performance of the junior calypsonians on the promenade.

Last Friday, June 24, senior calypsonians had the opportunity to ply their trade on the promenade (as did the junior calypsonians on Friday June 10). Among those performing last Friday were Roland ‘Chico B’ Veira (Rum Pipe), Junior ‘Marshie’ Marshall (Donkey for car), Gosnel ‘GC’ Cupid (Pan like rain) and William ‘Kojah’ Anthony (Behind closed doors).

“Last Friday’s event was just another part of the exciting activities highlighting Vincy Mas on the promenade. This Friday is the grand finale, the FLOW “Who didn’t make it to Soca Monarch” competition, which will see the winner walking away with a 55” flat screen smart television and free TV service,” said Williams. She added, “this event is much anticipated each year and it will be great entertainment with lots of giveaways and the admission is free”.
