Vincentian youth entrepreneur wins CIC
Yet another young Vincentian youth entrepreneur has won at the Caribbean Innovation Competition (CIC) â a regional support programme and start-up accelerator for CARICOM nationals seeking to take their entrepreneurial initiatives to the market.
Cenus Hinds of Konservi, the mobile marketing app business launched earlier this month, was one of two finalists to win the Caribbean Innovation Award.{{more}} The other was The Vinelist Inc from Jamaica.
Hinds competed live at the CIC Finals, Expo and Awards Ceremony on Saturday, June 11 and received a winning package that includes US$5,000 seed capital, access to investors and resources, follow up services and the unique opportunity to be part of the Leadership Links Network, a platform for young entrepreneurs to be part of global and high-level events receiving wide international visibility.
His win comes three years after Kamara Jerome of Emerald Energy won the CIC in Barbados with his solar and wind powered model boat.
The CIC is open to aspiring young business owners as part of the Caribbean Regional Entrepreneurial Asset Commercialization Hub (REACH*) Programme. The competition this year awarded projects are in two categories: Creative Industries and Technology Commercialization.
The competition goes beyond traditional business plan competitions, as it incorporates âbeforeâ and âafterâ stages, focusing on training and mentoring as preparation for submission of deliverables and six-month follow-up support post announcement of winners.
The Centre for Enterprise Development Inc, local partner for the Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) congratulates Cenus Hinds and his Konservi team!
