Family offering $5,000 for information on burglary at home

A reward of EC$5,000 is being offered to anyone who has information on a burglary that was committed in the Cane Hall area between May 12 and 15 this year.

A house belonging to the sister of taxi driver Edmond ‘Bam’ Thomas was broken into and the family will pay the reward to any person who provides information that leads to an arrest and charge by the police.{{more}}

Thomas is based at the ET Joshua airport taxi stand and persons with information may call him at 454-2188 or pass the information on to the Calliaqua Police Station.

Thomas said that his sister lives in England and has left him in charge of her house, which is located in Cane Hall, just above the roundabout.

He said that he visited the light brown two-storey house on May 12 “and everything was in good shape,” but when he went back on Sunday, May 15, he discovered the house had been burglarized.

“I was surprised, so I call the police and went and pick them up…they checked the house and they said the people used gloves”, revealed Thomas, who added that he has pointed out a suspect to the police, but no arrest has yet been made.

“My sister has put up a reward of EC$5,000 and anybody have any information, just pass it on”, said Thomas. He noted that the house has burglar bars, both inside and outside, but the burglar or burglars still managed to get in.

He said that they broke the locks from the outer burglar bars and used some sort of hydraulic jack to pry the inner burglar bar “right out of the wall”.

Among the things missing are a flat screen television, watches, appliances, jewellery, foodstuff and a laptop. About EC$2,000 in cash was also stolen.

“The reward is based on if anybody has information and leads to an arrest. You will get the reward and don’t worry about your identity being revealed”, stressed Thomas.(LC)
