SVG ranked 19th in world as relates to freedom
St Vincent and the Grenadines has been ranked number 19th in the world, as it relates to freedom by freedomhouse.org.
Freedom House is a US-based non-partisan government funded organization that conducts research and advocacy on democracy, political freedom and human rights.
Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves, during a press conference at Cabinet Room, noted that he was impressed with the ranking.{{more}}
âSt Vincent was listed in a good way and you would see that we score the highest mark that is possible to be scored in each of the three categories in which they are judging.â
The Prime Minister also noted that St Vincent received ones across the board in the categories which include: political rights, legal rights and freedom of the press.
âWhen you checked St Vincent, they had the banner statement at the top âFreeâ scores, one for each of those categories, in other words best score,â an elated Gonsalves stated.
St Lucia was ranked No. 12, making it the; highest ranked country in the Americas and the Caribbean.
Additionally, Gonsalves noted that St Vincent had also been ranked 29th Best Country in the world on the perception of corruption.
âI just want us to appreciate what we have; we have our challenges. I am not saying that we must be so satisfied with what we have that we must be complacent; I am not calling for complacency and I am not saying that is what we have, even though you recognize that it is good.â (CM)
