The Children’s Welfare Fund was started in 1971 by former Governor Sir Rupert John, and it has donated thousands of dollars to pre-schools, day nurseries and needy children throughout St Vincent and the Grenadines over these 45 years.

Present at the handing over ceremony was Sir Frederick Ballantyne, foundation member June Russell, Lady Antrobus and Janice Fraser – members of the Children’s Welfare Fund Board.

The cheque was handed over by René M Baptiste CMG, worshipful matron of the Ladies’ Lodge, who was accompanied by deputy matron Ann Murray, past worthy matrons Edna Jones and Annis Stephens.

The matron pledged to continue to make donations to the Fund. The Ladies Lodge was established for benevolent and charitable purposes.
