Eight beauties prepare for Miss SVG 2016
As this yearâs Miss SVG pageant looms closer, the eight young women who will compete for the highly coveted title are well underway in their preparations â with a busy schedule of training and public appearances ahead of them.
The contestants, who were officially introduced to the public on March 22, are Anya Frederick, Dahvana Providence, Jeanetta Richards, Nikianna Williams, Raneasha Loraine, Shanique Alexander, {{more}}Vakeesha John and Zenna Lewis.
Some of the activities include live radio interviews; visits to secondary schools and tertiary institutions; visits to sponsors and business places within Kingstown; courtesy call on the Minister of Tourism, Sports and Culture Cecil McKie on April 21; attending mass at St Johnâs Roman Catholic Church (Mesopotamia) on May 1; sashing by sponsors at the official launch of Vincy Mas on May 7; Meet the Media event at Young Island on May 14, followed by Windward road trip; Leeward road trip on May 15; Fishermanâs Day prize-giving at Calliaqua on May 16; visit to the School for Children with Special Needs and the Helping Hands Centre on May 18; official motorcade around Kingstown on May 21; and a visit with the Prime Minister and members of Cabinet on May 25.
On Friday, April 29, the contestants will visit five business places in Kingstown, namely: National Insurance Services, National Lotteries Authority, Coreas City Store, General Employeesâ Cooperative Credit Union Ltd and Courts St Vincent Ltd.
The pageant will take place on Saturday, June 4, at the Victoria Park, where the reigning Miss SVG (and Miss Carival) DeYonte Mayers will hand over her crown.
The Miss Carival 2016 pageant will take place at the same venue on Friday, July 1, with nine regional countries expected to participate.
