Odelia Delpesche is SSBQ’s 100th winner

Odelia Delpesche of the Bishop’s College Kingstown received her prize for being the 100th winner of the Secondary Schools Bible Quiz (SSBQ). This took place yesterday at the assembly for the opening of Term 3. The prize was presented by Clare Keizer, editor of the SEARCHLIGHT.

It was the second month in a row for Bishop’s College, as another student, Gabricia Yorke, won the prize for February.{{more}}

Keizer, in her remarks, commended the school for the quality of students it has been producing for the workforce. She gave three examples of past Bishop’s College students who have done very well at the SEARCHLIGHT. In complimenting the organizers, she also highlighted the importance of not only reading the Bible, but also applying its teachings, which can help to ennoble lives.

Odelia received $200 and a Bible from the organizers, a $200 gift-voucher and voucher for a wrapped gift for her parent, compliments Acute Cosmetics, along with a $100 Jujube voucher.

The Quiz continues monthly and Joel Jack announced that the $100 Jujube voucher will continue to be a part of the monthly prize from this month, thanks to part sponsorship from that bookstore.

The assembly observed a minute’s silence in honour of Akeili Latham, formerly of the Grammar School and participant in the Quiz, who died in tragic circumstances on the weekend.

Information on the Quiz can be found on www.ssbq.org and on the Secondary Schools Bible Quiz Facebook page.
