Raguette wins $50,000 in NLA scratch card game

Speaking at a handover ceremony on Monday, Raguette told the media that she is a regular scratch card player.{{more}}

“I am accustomed to buying scratchy….that morning I had $40 and buy it, but I never made anyone know,” an elated Raguette said.

“That morning I went down…I say boy let me sit down a little bit and I ain’t even tell the girl that I win the money, because I know I would have had to come on TV and I didn’t want it to spread.”

The mother of nine also stated that after realizing she had won, she told her sister, who intially did not believe her. She, however, thanked God for granting her the opportunity to win this scratch game.

Although she is excited to have won, Raguette declined to say what she plans to do with the money.

“I have intentions, but I wouldn’t say,” she noted.

Also speaking at Monday’s handing over, product development officer of the National Lotteries Authority (NLA) Anthony Dennie told the media that this event is an historic one for St Vincent and the Grenadines.

“This is the very first time that we are having such a large payout on a scratch card game,” Dennie said.

“This is the first time any Vincentian is winning that amount of money on a scratch card.”

The mobile money scratch game, which was introduced in 2014, runs at a cost of $5 per chance and winners are eligible to win up to $50,000.(CM)
