A two-day accredited project management seminar will be held here next month by the Centre for Enterprise Development Inc (CED) in collaboration with the Barbados Institute of Management and Productivity (BIMAP).{{more}}

The March 21-22 seminar will seek to develop competencies in project management, among participants that can lead to more effectively run projects and ultimately reduce risk and waste in organizations. It will also equip participants with the concepts, tools and techniques that can be applied immediately to the organizational setting.

The seminar targets managers, project co-coordinators and persons who have an interest in projects, whether they work in private, public or non-governmental organizations.

It is designed to provide participants with the necessary tools to improve their ability to initiate, plan, cost and evaluate the risks involved in project activities. Participants would be able to list the various tools and techniques of project initiation and planning; monitor and evaluate risks associated with projects; and implement strategies to help manage time and cost in various phases of the project.

CED training coordinator/PRO Keisha Phillips says persons interested in participating in this seminar have until March 15 to register.

“In this seminar, BIMAP’s Charles Marville will not be only teaching project management skills, he will be teaching participants to use basic project planning and management tools to prepare and execute projects.

“At the end of this seminar, participants will know how to utilize projects more efficiently by planning accurately the needs at each stage of the project, and how to monitor the progress of projects. They will leave with a better understanding of how to manage conflict situations that may arise in projects; and very importantly they will be able to develop effective communication systems among stakeholders involved in and affected by the project.”

In 2012, CED and BIMAP delivered the first Project Management Seminar here, which saw 33 persons benefitting. Interested persons can contact CED’s office for more information at 451-2235 or email kphillips@cedsvg.com
