‘Steel Expressions – Circle of Life’ this weekend
The Arnos Vale Sporting Complex will this Sunday, December 27, be the centre of talent, as Rodney Small presents his 2015 edition of Steel Expressions.{{more}}
This year, the event, into its fourth year, is dubbed âCircle of Lifeâ and will, as usual, showcase local talent, both mature and growing.
In an interview yesterday, Small said that this year, Steel Expressions â Circle of Life intends to highlight the different aspects of the creative arts and feature local talent.
Showtime is 7 p.m. and patrons can expect a showcase of different aspects of everyday life portrayed in a theatrical and musical way.
âWe are living in an era where reading and reasoning is a thing of the past, so I considered all that and decided to get my message across by using the creative arts,â said Small who added that some of the themes that will be present at the show are love, wrath, roots, joy, inspiration and next generation.
The event will feature performances from, among others, 11-year-old Milan Compton on violin, Cassique Ollivierre from the Potential Steel Orchestra, âGemâ from Creative Entertainment and the 2014, 2015 National Calypso Monarch Zamfir âMan Zangieâ Adams and Arabesque Dance Group (juniors).
Performances will also come from established performers like Shaunelle McKenzie, Gamal âSkinny Fabulousâ Doyle, Urban Xpressions Creative Group, Resistant Heartbeat Drummers and Rodney Small and the Ultimate Band, powered by Platinum Sounds.
Small said that he is hoping to raise funds for the Arts Alive Development Youth Programme.
The event is this year being sponsored by, among others, FLOW, Baptiste and Company Law Firm Inc, Juliaâs Fabric, LIME, Courts SVG, Grenadines House and Coreas City Store.
