Highly anticipated events pack Christmas weekend

The Christmas weekend in St Vincent and the Grenadines is chock full of activities.

After persons celebrate Christmas Day on Friday, December 25, the following day, Boxing Day, December 26, will welcome two of the year’s most high end parties.

Persons looking for a good time and who have some extra cash may either head out to Hypnosis-Enchanted at the Balcombe’s Estate at Villa,{{more}} or to Hot 97.1 FM’s Stush at the Arnos Vale Sporting Complex.

Tickets for Hypnosis will run you some EC$230 pre-sold, while you will be entertained by, among others, Redymix DMT from Trinidad, Jus-Jay from Barbados and local disc jockeys Dr HU, Emerald Sounds and Simple Sounds Family.

Stush on the other hand will cost you EC$300 to get inside and persons will listen the vibes being thrown out by X and Dog Sounds, Team Energy Overload, Hypa Active Sounds, DJ Puffy from Barbados and Scratch Master.

Both events are high fashion all-inclusive events that attract a wide cross – section of persons, despite the exorbitant entrance fees.

Also on Boxing Day, persons without such deep pockets can journey to the Chili Hard Court in Georgetown for ‘I’m a big deal,’ which will see a live performance from eight-time Soca Monarch winner Delroy ‘Fireman’ Hooper. DJs include DJ Ice, DJ Char Cha, DJ Ice Kole, DJ Maf and Predominant Sounds. Admission only EC$5.

On Sunday, the entertainment will come from Rodney Small’s Steel Expressions – Circle of Life. This event, like Stush, will be held at the Arnos Vale Sporting Complex, but patrons will only pay EC$40 to get inside.

Steel Expressions will see performances from 11-year-old Milan Compton on violin, Cassique Ollivierre from the Potential Steel Orchestra, ‘Gem’ from Creative Entertainment and the 2014, 2015 National Calypso Monarch Zamfir ‘Man Zangie’ Adams and Arabesque Dance Group (juniors). Performances will also come from established performers like Shaunelle McKenzie, Gamal ‘Skinny Fabulous’ Doyle, Urban Xpressions Creative Group, Resistant Heartbeat Drummers and Rodney Small and the Ultimate Band powered by Platinum Sounds.

Persons return to work as usual on Monday, December 28th, but have on Thursday, December 31st, a number of Old Year’s fetes to look forward to.

On December 31, persons looking for an Old Year’s Night all-inclusive can either head to Gatsby’s Mansion in Harmony Hall or head to Masque at Balcombe’s Estate in Indian Bay.

Entrance to the all-inclusive affair at Gatsby’s Mansion – A Black and White Affair, will run you around EC$175, while for Masque, you will have to find EC$300.

Climax will be held at the Rawacou National Park and persons will pay EC$50 dollars to get in. The catch is that you are allowed to bring your own drinks, but no ice is allowed.

Music will be provided by three – time international DJ of the Year ‘DJ Stephen’ of Trinidad, Lyrikal, a musical artiste, songwriter, performer and musician, born in Trinidad and Tobago, but residing in New York and Riggo Suave of New York. Local DJs Hypa Active Sounds, Emerald Sounds and Team Energy Overload, among others.
