Supervisor of the Elections, staff should be highly commemded – PM
While the New Democratic Party (NDP) has accused the supervisor of elections Sylvia Findlay of unprofessionalism, the governing Unity Labour Party (ULP) says the opposite.
ââ¦the office of the Supervisor of the Elections and all the election personnel were exemplary in managing and conducting these elections with little fuss and in accordance with the Representation of the People Act and its accompanying regulations,â{{more}} said Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves on Monday, while delivering an address at Heritage Square, Kingstown.
The NDP has refused to accept the results of the December 9, 2015 general elections and has staged protests outside the Electoral Office, accusing election personnel of wrongdoings.
But Gonsalves says that the men and woman involved in the democratic process must be commended.
âThey are to be highly commended as exemplars in upholding the sacrosance of the individual voterâs right to choose the government of his or her choice and in further strengthening our popular democracy and its basic institutions,â said Gonsalves on Monday. (LC)
