The four were shown SOL’s appreciation during an awards dinner, which was held at the Young Island Resort.

Addressing the gathering during the awards, SOL’s operations supervisor Bertram Walker said that McIntosh, affectionately known as Cindy, joined SOL on June 13, 2005 as customer service representative.

“To professionally execute her tasks, Cindy must have a sound knowledge of the company’s products. She is mainly responsible for receiving orders for fuel and lubricants, preparing invoices for deliveries, ensuring the company’s accounts receivables are in good stead by proactively chasing customers for payment. Cindy also assists the sales supervisor and country manager with various administrative duties,” explained Walker.

He said that McIntosh is particularly suited for her job because of her jovial personality and welcoming approach to visitors and callers alike.

“She willingly assists all departments and also has an adept knack for liaising with our customers to provide value sales and to prevent stockout,” said Walker.

Walker also presented Barbour’s award. He said that Barbour began her career at SOL as an accountant on April 18, 2005. Her responsibilities include managing the accounting department, ensuring strict confidential control of company records with integrity and accuracy and ensuring compliance with accounting procedures, in accordance with SOL’s policies and local legislation.

“To fulfill this role, Yolande must possess strong analytical, accounting and procedural skills and must demonstrate the ability to get things done on time. She is described as someone who is well organized, works well with others and has sound knowledge of business controls,” said Barker.

Aviation superintendent Alonzo DeFreitas presented Jacobs’ and Francis’ awards.

Jacobs joined SOL on April 4, 2005 as sales supervisor.

“This position is the primary interface between SOL EC LTD and its retail and commercial segments, aiding the company in delivering its short and long-term business objectives. In other words, John’s main deliverables are achieving sales targets, ensuring product pricing complies with regulatory guidelines, preparation of sales proposals, auditing of customer facilities and managing contract renewals. In addition, he coordinates training and customer workshops when required,” said DeFreitas, who noted that Jacobs is passionate about the oil and gas industry and because of this passion he possesses a wealth of knowledge about the company’s products.

Francis, country manager at SOL, joined the company on May 3, 2005 and according to DeFreitas, “had overall responsibility for the management of SOL EC Ltd” and has ever since, managed the day-to-day operation and financial performance, with emphasis on sales, operation performance and internal controls.

“In addition, Steve is the senior government key stakeholder liaison and has the major undertaking of managing the company’s corporate reputation in country. He embraces his role fully and is lauded as the consummate professional by his peers,” said DeFreitas.

Saturday’s awards dinner was attended by a number of the company’s staff and longstanding customers.

The Sol Group was formed through the acquisition of Shell’s business in the Eastern Caribbean, Guyana, Suriname and Belize and opened its doors in St Vincent in 2005. All four persons recognized on Saturday have been with SOL since it began operations here.
