Farmer presents ‘four in a row’ dasheen to PM

A Rastafarian farmer has presented Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves with what he described as “a four in a row dasheen.”

On Saturday night, during a rally of the Unity Labour Party (ULP) at the Calliaqua Playing Field,{{more}} the farmer presented the plant, comprising four dasheens stuck together, which he said was taken from the ground that way.

“Even the dasheens saying four in a row,” master of ceremonies Hans King said, while Gonsalves inspected the plant presented to him by the man who was decked in the red of the ULP.

A dasheen is an edible starchy tuberous root of taro plants that is grown throughout the tropics for its edible root and in temperate areas as an ornamental for its large glossy leaves.
