The furniture, appliance, electronics and optical provider recently handed over $5,000 to Major Pierre Antoine of the Salvation Army to go towards the annual fund-raising venture, which kicked off last week.

The Salvation Army has been in St Vincent and the Grenadines for the past 113 years and has been instrumental in helping less fortunate individuals here.

The Salvation Army hosts a school feeding programme and runs a day care centre, a pre-school and an orphanage.

Indra Grant, Courts assistant commercial manager, said that the gesture goes hand in hand with what her company has been doing for the Salvation Army over the years.

“We have worked with the Salvation Army to help them better assist the persons who depend on them and at this particular time of the year, we are aware that more people rely on them for assistance and we are happy to donate to this worthy organization, because true happiness comes with giving.

“This is our way of showing our support to the organization, and we are making a special ‘appeal’ to individuals and organizations to join with us to support the Salvation Army in whatever way possible.”

Major Antoine thanked Courts for its contribution and indicated that the donation would be put to good use.

He also called on others to assist the Salvation Army to reach its goal for the season.
